Meet Dr. Michael E. Piepenbring
After a four year commitment to the US Navy, Dr. Piepenbring graduated with a BS in Biology from the College of Charleston in 1980. Continuing his professional education, Dr. Piepenbring received his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1984, his masters in Microbiology and Immunology, and a Certificate in Periodontics in 1986 from the Medical University of South Carolina. He practiced as a Periodontist in Spartanburg, SC from 1986-1989 and then returned to Georgetown, SC to establish his specialty dental practice in his “hometown.” From 1997-1999, Dr. Piepenbring attended the Medical College of Georgia (now Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine) where he earned his Certificate of Endodontics. He returned to Georgetown in 1999 and began his dual specialty practice. He expanded his practice area in 2004, opening an office in Murrells Inlet. He currently sees patients in both Georgetown and Murrells inlet.
Dr. Piepenbring is an active member in the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontists, and the American Association of Endodontists. He and his wife, Lee, are active members of Georgetown Presbyterian Church and several other volunteer and community organizations. Dr. and Mrs. Piepenbring have two grown sons, Will and Matt, with whom they spend as much time as they are allowed. In whatever other little spare time he can find, Dr. Piepenbring loves spending time fishing in the creeks of North Inlet.
